★ Yahoo.com : the tablet version

A tip has told us that Yahoo! has published the tablet version of its homepage. The site is located at yahoo.com/tablet. The layout has been optimized for touch devices but if you’re checking it on a traditional laptop all links will lead you to the normal version of each website.

In case you miss this week product launch, here is an introduction to the new Yahoo! Messenger application for iPhone with VOIP and video call features. This product was previously announced by Blake Irving along with Search and Mail updates.

∞ Yahoo! Drops 4 New Apps into Android Market

Great, just when I want to switch back to BlackBerry…Cursed… I’m telling you

Yahoo! Movies - Find show times, local theaters, and driving directions—even purchase tickets from your phone. Get critics’ and user reviews, view trailers, read up on the plot, then grab a seat and enjoy the show.

omg! - Be the first to know about celebrity news, photos, and actions from the entertainment and music industries. Track the gossip, view video interviews, see red carpet looks, slide shows and more.

Yahoo! Weather - Know the weather, track storms, see the latest conditions, plus the ten-day forecast. Check out the weather in cities around the world or in your location, including wind, visibility, or humidity.

Yahoo! - Quickly find what you’re searching for, get in touch with friends and stay in-the-know with the latest news and information. Click here to download Yahoo!

∞ Yahoo! Finance finds its way to Android

Yahoo! has published a new application for Android users. After Mail and Messenger here comes Yahoo! Finance. Here is a small review by AndroidPolice.com

In addition to viewing news and quotes, the Yahoo Finance app lets you log into your Yahoo account and view your saved Finance portfolios (although I didn’t see the option to do this at first) – see the last few screenshots for what that looks like.

On the flip side, I found the app kind of buggy at times, refusing to load content and charts – see the 4th, 6th, and the very last slide for examples of bad behavior.

Yahoo pushed out a decent app, but the data loading issues and the overall clunkiness make it not nearly as user friendly as Google’s Finance app. However, I welcome you to download it and be your own judge.

∞ Yahoo! Sketch-A-Search... on iPhone...of course...

Looks like Yahoo! will look down on you if you dare not having an iPhone… or maybe they simply dunno how to code for the other mobile platforms…You know, the real ones…

“Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search makes search even easier, without typing keywords or thinking about search terms. You simply draw a boundary on your phone’s map to discover local businesses within that location. Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search delivers robust local content without people needing to know the neighborhood. Initially available for restaurant searches in the U.S., Yahoo! Sketch-a-Search will launch additional local categories on an ongoing basis and will extend to international markets in the near future.”

∞ Yahoo Disbands Mobile Group As Part Of Reorganization

The changes, which involves breaking up the mobile group and redeploying those employees across the company’s individual product groups, is the result of a review by CEO Carol Bartz, who has been an advocate of having fewer silos in the company. The reorganization has led to the departures of a number of senior mobile executives, most recently Yahoo’s Mobile General Manager Mitch Lazar, who announced his resignation this week.
